Amelex President and Co-owner Announces Retirement

On February 12, 2024, Amelex President and Co-owner, Dawn Rich, announced her retirement after 36 years with the company.  She expressed how difficult her decision was, and how much she cares about her employees and the support they provide to Amelex’s customers.  Ms. Rich’s retirement was made official during a meeting of the Board of Directors on February 24,2024, in which she officially tendered her resignation as Amelex President.  However, as a company owner, Ms. Rich will continue to serve on the Board of Directors.  As a result of Ms. Rich’s retirement, Kimberly Oliver, Amelex CEO and Co-owner, will become President and CEO.  Ms. Jacquline Lawrence, a current Director in the company, will be promoted to Vice President of Operations.  Together, Ms. Oliver and Ms. Lawrence will continue to lead Amelex into the future.  Ms. Lawrence has been with Amelex for over 25 years, has served in many senior leadership roles, and has been involved in every aspect of company business, from customer support to corporate operations.  In her new role, Ms. Lawrence will assume the majority of Ms. Rich’s day-to-day operational duties and responsibilities.  When making the announcement regarding the promotion of Ms. Lawrence, Ms. Oliver stated, “She knows our business inside and out, has proven to be a strong leader, and has great ideas for our future.  Both Dawn and I are confident that there is no one more ready or better suited for this position than Jackie.”  While there is no doubt that Ms. Rich’s presence within Amelex’s daily operations will be sorely missed, she feels strongly that she is leaving the company in very capable hands to do great things in the future.

American Electronics, Inc. (Amelex), a leading-edge, woman-owned small business headquartered in California, Maryland, is excited to announce the award of task order #N004213-F-3005, a five year, $35M task order under their prime SeaPort-Next Generation (SeaPort-NxG) contract. With over 40 years of experience, Amelex excels in providing program management, engineering, information technology, cybersecurity, and facilities management support services to the Department of Defense. This newly awarded task order, which began on July 1, 2023, solidifies Amelex’s position as a proven, successful provider of engineering, technical, and management support services to the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Webster Outlying Field (WOLF) Organic Product Development Office.

Under the task order, Amelex will provide comprehensive support to NAWCAD WOLF in various critical areas including the antenna range and instrumentation facility, environmental
simulation and test laboratory, engineering and prototyping facility, information technology (IT) management and software, Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) asset management, information management (IM), system administration (SA), information assurance (IA), cybersecurity, IT compliance, Video Teleconference (VTC) and conference room management, procurement, physical security, infrastructure, hazardous material (HAZMAT), media and communications operations, facilities coordination and management, systems engineering, systems acquisition, project management, and telecommunications and visitor control support.

AWARD ANNOUNCEMENT: NAWCAD WOLF RAPID MAC IDIQ Prime Contract Award

American Electronics, Inc. (Amelex) was awarded a RAPID MAC Prime Contract, N00421-22-D-0009, on the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Webster Outlying Field (WOLF) RAPID MAC IDIQ in Pool #1 Systems Accreditation and Certification. This effort will provide engineering design, tailored systems engineering, and product acquisition in the development, integration, and fielding of solutions for warfighting capability gaps. The scope includes the application of rapid development, rapid prototyping, and organic Lead Systems Integration in the development of product-based solutions in areas to include: Combat Integration & Identification Systems, Ship & Air Integrated Warfare Systems, Special Communications Mission Solutions, Air Traffic Control & Landing Systems, Airborne Systems Integration, Integrated Command and Control. The period of performance for the RAPID MAC is March 04, 2022 – March 03, 2027.

Kim Oliver, CEO, “Business Person of the Year”

Congratulations to Kim Oliver, CEO, for receiving the “Business Person of the Year” award from the St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce. Each year, this award is given to a successful business person who works to promote and advance the economy in St. Mary’s County.
